Position Summary:
Employee Relations Specialist (Tier2– Workforce Investigations), Employee Relations, Human Resources
Join our growing Human Resources team! The Employee Relations Specialist will play a critical role supporting the Employee Relations Department activities, specifically with workforce investigations. Our ideal fit will be meticulous with details, strive for efficiency and process improvements, and committed to excellent customer service. This individual will also support key initiatives and goals of the department.
To give you an idea of team structure, this position will work on a team with other Employee Relations Specialists, reporting to the Employee Relations Manager.
Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position:
- Assist Employee Relations Department with a wide variety of employee relations matters, with a focus area of Workforce Investigations
- Promptly conduct thorough and objective investigations of alleged policy violations, misconduct, conflicts of interest, and other work-related issues
- Conduct impartial, fact-based interviews with managers and employees in a timely manner
- Prepare written investigative reports and documentation, including interview notes and summary of findings
- Use case management systems (Navex EthicsPoint and Ivanti) to manage cases from intake to resolution
- Collaborate with HR leadership and Legal department to ensure investigations are conducted in accordance with company polices and legal requirements; and meet with appropriate leadership and HR partners to discuss recommendations and next steps based on investigation findings
- Develop and maintain confidential procedures for the handling and processing of complaints and allegations
- Create insights from data to inform process and improvements as they relate to workforce investigations
- Establish strong cross-functional relationships with all levels of the organization
- Advise/counsel employees at all levels to resolve conflict and provide advice on the proper procedure/process in handling personnel matters
- Assist managers with performance management including coaching and counseling, training, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Occasional administrative work as necessary to support the activities of the department
- Special Projects as assigned by Employee Relations Manager and Director, Employee Relations
- The position will have access to minimum PHI necessary for performing job-related functions; regular HIPAA training, aligning with the specific role and responsibilities, will be required; and the individual will need to protect PHI and maintain data safeguards.
Minimum Requirements:
- Completion of one of the following: 3+ years of legal or human resource experience OR associate’s degree and not less than one year of in-house experience as a human resource representative OR bachelor’s degree
- Excellent customer service skills
- Practical knowledge of human resource concepts
- Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to answer telephone calls and communicate information to callers
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize multiple tasks
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- High level of confidentiality, maturity, personal initiative, and sound judgment
Desirable Qualifications:
- Human resource experience
- Knowledge of Local, State and Federal laws and regulations relating to employment issues
- Experience working with matter management system and human capital management systems
Physical Requirements:

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
