Vice President of Operations - Southeast

 

Heartland Dental continues to advance its market-leading growth and dental office support strategy and is looking to expand our senior-level operations team.   We are looking for an individual that can form and execute both long- and short-term business strategies while leading a positive, productive and innovative work culture. This individual should possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and build a consensus in a high-pressure environment. The Vice President of Operations will be responsible for leading operational support for over 400+ supported practices and representing more than $500MM in revenue.

About the Position

You will lead and work collaboratively with up to 7 Regional Directors of Operations and the regional support team, reporting to a Senior Vice President of Operations. You will collaborate with other business partners across the company to align around accomplishment of company goals and delivering key value drivers.

 

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:

  • Lead with the vision and mission of Heartland Dental
  • Lead with and exhibit our core values of Honor, Execute, Achieve, Collaborate, Balance and Celebrate
  • Full P&L accountability – strong financial acumen and ability to develop and execute a profitable financial strategy
  • Understand and master the external environment that influences Heartland Dental and the boarder dental industry
  • Strategic planning: Plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities in the organization
  • Collaborate with development team on footprint expansion of our De Novo (new build) and Affiliations programs, from site selection through successful integration
  • Lead territory financial planning and provide quarterly business reporting with strong accountability to business results
  • Organizational Design: Work to achieve scale and efficient management of resources to support our doctor-led organization
  • Work continuously to achieve operational excellence: managing all facets of the territory including operational drivers supporting strong scheduling, production and collection systems, human resources, and customer service
  • Ability to adapt to technology, proficient in technical skills needed.
  • Create value for supported doctors and teams by connecting resources and aligning on annual goals and quarterly business plans for every supported practice.
  • People: Recruitment, selection, training, and retention of team members and supported doctors
  • Team development: Develop operations team including career pathing and succession planning
  • Leading change: Partner with business leaders and other key stakeholders to drive successful change management and implement new business processes throughout the organization

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of one of the following: 7 years of progressive leadership experience OR bachelor’s degree and no less than 5 years of managerial experience OR MBA with 2 years meaningful industry experience
  • Proven business insights and decision-making skills; P&L experience essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable with designing and delivering valuable information with clarity and confidence.
  • Strong networking skills, with the ability to connect with supported dentists and team members at all levels
  • Strong organizational skills and respond in a timely manner to a large amount of communication
  • Advanced people leadership skills
  • Ability to collaborate with key stake holders across the organization
  • Frequent overnight travel, often on short notice
  • Must be located in the Southeastern USA or willing to relocate

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Healthcare experience, preferably in the dental space
  • Experience leading multiple business units and profit centers

 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Ability to travel with overnight stays as the position requires
