Position Summary:

Front-End Developer, Marketing

We’re looking for a Front-End Developer who is passionate about users and loves to build clean, modern web experiences. This role is perfect for someone who cares about thoughtful design details, delightful user experiences, and fast, accessible, and easily maintainable websites, and takes pride in their work.

You’ll work closely with UX designers, engineers, content creators, and product managers to build and continually improve our ecosystem of patient-facing websites. If you geek out over refining interactions, obsessing (a bit) over spacing and layout, and keeping up with modern CSS and JavaScript techniques, you’ll feel right at home here.

Heartland Dental is the nation's largest dental support organization, providing non-clinical administrative support services to more than 3,000 supported doctors across 39 states and the District of Columbia in over 1,800 dental offices. Each Heartland Dental supported office is unique to the community and the patients they serve. Supported doctors are the leaders of their practice and retain clinical autonomy. All Heartland Dental supported Doctors are united by a common goal: delivering the highest quality dental care and experiences to the communities they serve.

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:

  • Build and maintain responsive, user-focused marketing websites using modern front-end technologies
  • Translate UX designs, briefs, wireframes, and prototypes into polished, accessible, production-ready interfaces
  • Write clean, maintainable semantic HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with a strong emphasis on performance and usability
  • Develop reusable components and features using React and other modern front-end techniques
  • Attention to detail: layout, typography, interaction, and cross-browser behavior all matter here
  • Optimize pages for accessibility in terms of color, layout, keyboard interaction, and screen readers, etc.
  • Collaborate closely with UX designers and brand stakeholders to ensure design intent and user needs are balanced with business needs and reflected in the final experience
  • Troubleshoot and resolve UI, layout, and interaction issues across devices and browsers
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared standards, patterns, and best practices
  • Stay current with modern web development trends—especially CSS capabilities, tooling, and performance techniques

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
  • 4+ years of professional frontend development experience
  • Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Hands-on experience building applications or sites with React
  • Comfortability with design tools and the ability to translate designs and offer meaningful input when it comes to UX
  • Solid grasp of responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, web standards, and accessibility
  • Experience using Git and modern development workflows
  • Comfort working with APIs and dynamic data on the front-end
  • A sharp eye for detail and a strong sense of UX best practices
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate within/across teams
  • Ability to thoughtfully test/QA your own work and the work of your peers

Desirable Qualifications

  • Excellent CSS skills, including modern layout techniques (Flexbox, Grid) and component-based styling
  • Experience with TypeScript
  • Experience with Figma, Adobe XD, or other similar UX design tools
  • Familiarity with modern build tools and workflows (e.g., AWS, Docker, GitHub Actions)
  • Experience working with CMS-driven or headless website architectures
  • Understanding of SEO fundamentals and performance optimization techniques
  • Experience with Jira or similar project tracking tools
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and using data to inform UX improvements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties of the position
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

We put our people first at Heartland Dental, and that shows in our generous benefits package.

Company retains the sole discretion to change the duties of the position at any time.

We provide all employees and applicants for employment the protections of federal, state, and local laws affording equal opportunity in employment.
