Position Summary:

Master Data Management (MDM) Lead – Data & Reporting Systems

 

The Master Data Management (MDM) Lead, Data & Reporting Systems will support the Accounting & Finance master data strategy, governance, and operational excellence for the SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud environment. This role is responsible for defining and implementing data governance frameworks, leading and executing master data processes, and ensuring the integrity and consistency of data across all business domains.

To give you an idea of the team structure, the MDM Lead will partner with team leaders, business process owners, and technical teams to drive data-driven transformation, ensuring that master data supports scalable, compliant, and efficient business operations.

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:

Governance & Standards

  • Support the execution of the MDM strategy aligned with digital transformation goals and SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud architecture.
  • Help define and establish and chair the “MDM Review Council” to ensure cross-functional alignment on data standards, processes, and ownership as it pertains to Accounting & Finance systems
  • Act as the trusted advisor on master data best practices and governance within the SAP ecosystem and ancillary accounting systems
  • Design and enforce global data models, naming conventions, and approval workflows for key master data domains (Company Codes, Profit Centers, Cost Centers, Projects/WBS Elements, Chart of Accounts, Business Partners, etc.)
  • Drive the harmonization of master data across various applications and reporting systems.
  • Develop and monitor data quality metrics, ensuring continuous improvement in data accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

Data Migration & Projects

  • Lead the master data workstream for SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud implementation and ongoing releases.
  • Support data migration strategy, including data cleansing, mapping, validation, and testing using tools such as SAP Data Migration Cockpit, MDG, or Data Services.
  • Serve as MDM Lead for the cutover and stabilization activities related to master data for new rollouts, integrations, or acquisitions.

Operational Excellence

  • Execute the day-to-day maintenance of financial master data management in S/4 Public Cloud and ancillary systems
  • Define and monitor SLAs for master data creation, change, and approval processes.
  • Implement automation and data quality monitoring solutions to enhance efficiency and governance.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with Accounting & Finance, Accounts Payable, and Other Department leaders to ensure master data aligns with business process requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT, integration teams, and xP&A to ensure seamless data flow between systems.

Minimum Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Management, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Master Data Management, Data Governance, or Enterprise Data roles, with at least 2+ years leading or owning a process or team
  • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud; exposure to SAP HANA Cloud Data Warehouse environments
  • Hands-on experience with SAP master data domains and data governance frameworks.
  • Willingness to travel as needed (10%).
  • The position will have access to minimum PHI necessary for performing job-related functions; regular HIPAA training, aligning with the specific role and responsibilities, will be required; and the individual will need to protect PHI and maintain data safeguards.

 

Technical Skills

  • Deep knowledge of SAP master data objects (Company Codes, Profit Centers, Cost Centers, Projects/WBS Elements, Chart of Accounts, Business Partners, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of data quality management, metadata management, and data lifecycle processes.
  • Understanding of SAP MDG (Master Data Governance), SAP Data Migration Cockpit, and/or Data Services.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into data management initiatives.
  • Experience in cross-functional initiatives across various teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cloud-based, agile environment.
  • Currently an individual contributor role; no direct supervisory responsibilities at this time.
  • May assume leadership or supervisory responsibilities in the future as the team or department grows.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Public Edition
  • SAP Certified Application Associate – Master Data Governance (MDG)
  • DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent
