Position Summary:

Senior Manager, Supply Strategy & Transformation

Heartland Dental is seeking a highly skilled, intellectually curious Senior Manager to support strategic transformation within the clinical labs category. This role is ideal for a generalist consultant with strong analytical, storytelling, and problem solving skills—not a traditional procurement or sourcing expert.

The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, can break down complex problems using a whiteboard-from-scratch approach, and translates large volumes of data into clear, compelling narratives for executives. This role partners closely with Program Managers, Operators, and Clinical Experts to build scalable strategies, drive change management, and support ongoing operational transformation. This position is hands-on, highly collaborative, and requires someone who can operate autonomously in a fast-moving environment with minimal oversight.

Heartland Dental is the nation's largest dental support organization, providing non-clinical administrative support services to more than 3,000 supported doctors across 39 states and the District of Columbia in over 1,900 dental offices. Each Heartland Dental supported office is unique to the community and the patients they serve. Supported doctors are the leaders of their practice and retain clinical autonomy. All Heartland Dental supported Doctors are united by a common goal: delivering the highest quality dental care and experiences to the communities they serve.

Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of managers and analysts — setting clear priorities, elevating problem-solving rigor, and building strong leadership and communication capabilities across the team
  • Lead strategy development and high-impact initiatives to improve cost structure, supplier ecosystems, and operational performance across major spend categories in alignment with enterprise goals
  • Apply a structured, consultant-style approach to break down ambiguous business problems, develop hypotheses, and design scalable, actionable solutions
  • Design and implement scalable frameworks for supplier strategy, performance management, and partnership governance, including KPI development and executive-level business reviews
  • Translate large, complex data sets into clear insights, strategic narratives, and decision-ready recommendations for senior leadership
  • Structure and guide quantitative and qualitative analyses to diagnose performance gaps, evaluate strategic options, and build business cases for change
  • Serve as a strategic partner to Operations, Finance, and other functional leaders to align priorities, influence decisions, and mobilize execution
  • Lead cross-functional transformation and sourcing initiatives, including commercial strategy, competitive processes, and supplier ecosystem design
  • Structure and negotiate strategic agreements that balance financial outcomes, operational performance, risk management, and long-term partnership value
  • Monitor industry trends, market dynamics, and emerging models to continuously evolve cost, supply, and operating strategies
  • Establish disciplined execution governance, performance tracking, and continuous improvement across initiatives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Operations, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, operations, procurement, finance, or related roles driving complex business initiatives (not just execution)
  • MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to structure ambiguous problems, develop strategic recommendations, and translate them into executable plans
  • Strong analytical skillset with experience synthesizing large data sets into clear insights and business cases (advanced Excel is a must)
  • Track record of leading cross-functional workstreams and influencing stakeholders without direct authority
  • Experience developing performance frameworks, KPIs, and measurement systems to drive accountability and results
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort presenting to senior leadership
  • Strong people leadership, coaching, and collaboration capabilities
  • High level of ownership, prioritization, and ability to operate in fast-paced, evolving environments
  • Experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or large-scale operational transformation strongly valued

Company retains the sole discretion to change the duties of the position at any time. We provide all employees and applicants for employment with the protections of federal, state, and local laws affording equal opportunity in employment.
