Position Summary:
Strategic Sourcing Program Manager
Heartland Dental is the nation's largest dental support organization, providing non-clinical administrative support services to more than 3,000 supported doctors across 39 states and the District of Columbia in over 1,900 dental offices. The Strategic Sourcing Program Manager will contribute to the company’s success by partnering with suppliers and internal support teams to lead strategic initiatives that influence business decision-making, improve department maturity, and drive value across multiple sourcing categories. Ideal candidates will be strong generalists with exceptional problem-solving skills, project management capability, analytical acumen, and the ability to communicate clearly with a variety of stakeholders.
The Strategic Sourcing Program Manager is an individual contributor role that reports to the Director of Strategic Sourcing. They will work closely with clinical and technical experts, providing support to all areas of the business including Dental Supplies, Equipment, & Lab Services, Facilities, IT, Marketing, Education, Human Resources and Recruiting.
Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across key spend categories by translating complex problems into structured project plans, coordinating cross-functional teams, and managing timelines to ensure successful execution
- Lead sourcing events including competitive RFPs, supplier evaluations, and contract negotiations to optimize spend, improve supplier performance, and ensure favorable pricing, terms, and compliance with organizational standards
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to define sourcing requirements, align on business needs, and drive effective purchasing events
- Analyze spend data, supplier performance, market trends, and competitive benchmarks to identify cost-saving opportunities and develop strategic sourcing recommendations
- Synthesize complex analyses and supplier proposals into clear reporting and presentations to support leadership decision-making and communicate initiative status, outcomes, and recommendations
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business or related field
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in supply chain, strategy, finance, and/or consulting
- Ability to travel up to 1 time per month for 2-3 days at a time
- Advanced technical skills with Microsoft PowerPoint & Excel (Macros, xlookups, IF statements, and PivotTables a must)
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Proven ability to structure and solve ambiguous problems, analyze trade-offs, and drive to actionable solutions
- Comfortability working independently and navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and structure work to achieve measurable business outcomes
- Ability to measure the effectiveness of business decisions by developing and reporting out KPIs
- Ability to lead and collaborate across functions
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication
- Confident presenter with the ability to engage and influence Senior Leadership
Desirable Qualifications:
- MBA or similar advanced degree from a top-tier university preferred
Physical Requirements:

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
