Position Summary:
Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Heartland Dental’s Technology Infrastructure team is focused on the architecture, design, and delivery of Heartland Dental’s Infrastructure for mission-critical systems. The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer focuses on designing, architecting, building, supporting, and securing cloud-based systems. This role requires subject matter expertise in cloud services, architecture, and best practices. They will engage with cross-functional teams to define requirements and develop strategies for our current and future cloud-based solutions. This is NOT a dev/ops position.

To give you an idea of the team structure, you will work with the IT Infrastructure Systems Team reporting to the IT Infrastructure Systems Manager.
Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:
- Develop and improve existing and new cloud strategies, best practices, and standards for effective cloud-based solutions. (GCP/Azure)
- Build solutions focusing on enablement of business processes and our customers experience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and manage cloud-based solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other Technology teams to develop their skills and capabilities inside our cloud environments.
- Engage with vendors and partners, as appropriate, to ensure solutions are up-to-date and are following industry best practices to continuously deliver advancing cloud-based solutions.
- Collaborate with operational teams to develop and implement effective monitoring and incident resolution processes, ensuring alignment with customer SLAs.
- Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the business and collaborate with business teams to ensure that our strategies effectively address the requirements of our business stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of the latest technologies and practices, offering guidance on how emerging IT operations technologies can bring value to the company.
- Effectively navigate technological risks by integrating security concepts into strategies and services.
- Focus on automation to deliver effective provisioning and management of cloud-based solutions.
- Maintain documentation of configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Participate in our Service Management processes as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer information sciences or related field; or equivalent work experience
- 4+years of experience in delivering cloud-based solutions.
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of IT Infrastructure and Security, including industry best practices.
- Proficient in scripting to support an Infrastructure as Code (IAC) strategy.
- Experience in developing cloud-based solutions leveraging IAC.
- Ability to navigate and embrace healthy conflict within the team, with vendors and with other business functions to deliver exceptional solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to senior leaders, and business concepts to IT department.
- Flexible team player who is always professional and service oriented.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in computer information sciences or related field.
- Four or more years delivering solutions with GCP and/or Azure.
- Experience with multi-cloud environments and interoperability between disparate cloud environments.
- Delivering solutions in a multi-site enterprise environment.
- Experience on various GCP’s Data Storage and Processing services such as BigQuery
- Experience in implementing data-governance solutions.
- Proficiency in multiple scripting languages
- Experience or familiarity with ITIL or DevOps practices.
- Any cloud certifications.
- Prior experience with delivering integrated solutions with specifically, HANA Cloud, OData services and Integration suite.
- Experience in the dental market.
