Position Summary:
Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager
The Strategic Sourcing Senior Manager will contribute to the company’s success by leading a team of individuals and partnering with suppliers or internal support teams to drive strategic initiatives that improve the overall department maturity. Ideal candidates will have exceptional financial and business acumen, a results-oriented mindset, and the ability to drive alignment toward common goals.
Heartland Dental LLC (“Heartland Dental”), the nation’s largest dental support organization (“DSO”) providing non-clinical, administrative support services to more than 2,700 dentists practicing in 1,700+ locations across 38 states is seeking a Strategic Sourcing & Analytics Manager to join our Strategic Sourcing team.
The Strategic Sourcing & Analytics Manager is a people manager role that reports to the Director of Strategic Sourcing. They will work closely with clinical and technical experts, providing support to all areas of the business including Dental Supplies, Equipment, & Lab Services, Facilities, IT, Marketing, Education, Human Resources and Recruiting.
Below is an overview of the duties and responsibilities you would take on in this role:
- Lead and mentor a team of sourcing managers and analysts, providing guidance on how to structure their work, supporting their professional development, and delivering regular performance reviews and/or coaching conversations
- Develop and drive strategic recommendations to improve visibility and cost management of clinical supplies, equipment, and/or labs in alignment with organizational goals
- Develop a framework to support team with evaluating potential strategic supplier partners and managing supplier performance by establishing KPIs and conducting regular business reviews
- Apply technical and business process knowledge to assimilate large data sets and structure reporting that enables decision-making on operational priorities and supplier contract adherence
- Structure approach for and guide team members through quantitative analyses (using SAP data and Excel) on supplier cost or performance improvement opportunities; synthesize findings and next steps for executive audience and collaborate with suppliers and Operations partners to implement
- Regularly communicate context, status, and outcome of in-process or proposed initiatives to leadership within the department and cross-functionally as needed to ensure alignment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lead and/or guide team members leading purchasing initiatives (i.e. competitive RFP events, supplier contract negotiations) for clinical or non-clinical categories
- Review and/or negotiate supplier partner contracts to ensure favorable pricing, terms, and compliance with organizational and industry standards
- Monitor market trends and conduct competitive analysis to benchmark company spend / pricing and identify opportunities for further cost savings or supply chain efficiencies
Minimum Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 1 time per month for 2-3 days at a time
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Business or related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in related discipline
- MBA or similar advanced degree from a top tier university preferred
- Advanced technical skills with Microsoft PowerPoint & Excel (Macros, xlookups, IF statements, and PivotTables a must)
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize and structure work to achieve business outcomes
- Ability to measure the effectiveness of business decisions by developing and reporting out KPIs
- Ability to lead and collaborate across functions
- Critical thinking, creative problem solving, and ability to work through ambiguity

- Clear and concise verbal and written communication
- Ability to present to and engage with Senior Leadership
